Wright, James earn Molten/NEC weekly honors

SOMERSET, N.J. – Bryant University volleyball freshmen Alysa Wright (Wayne, Pa.) and Riley James (Pocasset, Mass.) have been selected for Molten/Northeast Conference weekly honors for the week ending Oct. 20, as announced Monday by the NEC office.

Wright was named Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week after the best week of her freshman campaign while helping the Black & Gold to a pair of wins over fellow NEC contenders. The Bulldog middle had a career-high 11 kills and added six blocks in Bryant's five-set victory Tuesday over Central Connecticut and added a career-best eight blocks in Bryant's first win over LIU in Brooklyn since 2010. Wright averaged 1.56 blocks per set on the week and helped the Bulldogs improve to 7-2 in the NEC.

James collected Molten/NEC Rookie of the Week honors after a pair of double-doubles in the victories over Central Connecticut and LIU. The outside from Massachusetts recorded 17 kills and 11 digs in Tuesday's five-set win over the Blue Devils, capping off the victory with a thunderous kill on match point. James followed that performance with 11 kills, 15 digs and three aces in Saturday's four-set victory in Brooklyn.

Bryant stands in second place in the NEC entering two home matches this weekend against Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis Brooklyn. Tickets for both Friday and Saturday are available by clicking HERE.
