Volleyball Hosts SFC and LIU In Final Home Weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will host St. Francis Brooklyn and Long Island in their final two home matches of the regular season. Senior Day will be Saturday against LIU.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Bryant went 8-1 in the month of October, with six of their eight wins being sweeps. The Bulldogs dropped a total of five sets during the month, and have lost only one set in their last seven matches.

  • Riley James was named an NEC Prime Performer after recording 23 kills, a .388 hitting percentage, and four blocks in Bryant's wins over FDU and Saint Francis last weekend.

  • Abby Rae was also named a Prime Performer. She anchored the Bulldog defense with 31 digs and only one reception error over the weekend.

  • With four blocks against SFU, Alysa Wright reached 100 blocks in a season for the first time in her career. Her 101 total blocks are tops in the conference and her 1.11 blocks per set are second best.

  • Saturday will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs. Seniors Caroline Kennedy, Haley O'Brien, and Jenna Knight will be honored prior to the start of the match vs. LIU.

SFC Preview: Scouting the Terriers

  • St. Francis is 7-18 overall on the season and 3-7 in the NEC. They are in sixth place in the conference standings.

  • Player to Watch: Freshman middle blocker Cristal Paulino is fourth in the conference with 79 total blocks (0.94 per set). She is also second on the team with 137 kills.

  • Bryant defeated SFC 3-1 in Brooklyn back on October 1. It was the Bulldogs' 13th win in their last 14 matches vs. the Terriers.

LIU Preview: Scouting the Sharks

  • The Sharks are 10-12 overall and 7-3 in the NEC. They're on a three game win streak, and are tied with Sacred Heart and Saint Francis U for second in the standings.

  • Player to Watch: Grad student outside hitter Jovana Stekovic ranks second in the NEC in kills (330, 4.07 per set). She is a  two-time NEC Player of the Week this season.

  • LIU defeated Bryant 3-2 on Oct. 2 in Brooklyn, handing the Bulldogs their only conference loss so far, and their only loss since September 18.
