Bulldogs Hosting Brown to Wrap Up Homestand

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's volleyball team will wrap up its five-game homestand tonight, taking on Brown in the Chace Athletic Center. The Bulldogs have gone 3-1 in the Chace over the past week, including winning two of three during the Bryant Invitational.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Aubrey Lapour and Abby Rae were named to the all-tournament team at the Bryant Invitational. Lapour finished the weekend with 25 kills and seven blocks, while Rae had 33 digs and seven assists.

  • The Bulldogs lead the America East and rank in the top fifty in the nation in blocks, coming in at 46th with 55 total rejections. Alysa Wright leads the conference and is 42nd nationally with 28 blocks on the season.

  • Bryant is looking to continue its successful defense of home court. The Bulldogs are 11-4 at the Chace since the beginning of last season and have not lost consecutive matches at home since September of 2019.

Scouting the Bears

  • Brown is off to a 2-1 start this season after taking two of three matches at their home tournament this past weekend. The Bears were 20-6 (13-1 Ivy) last year, winning the conference title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

  • Player to Watch: Junior right side Kate Sheire was a first-team All-Ivy selection in 2021. She has 28 kills and nine blocks in three matches this season.

  • The Bears and Bulldogs faced off twice in 2021, with Brown winning both matchups. Bryant is 7-19 all-time in the matchup, including 3-8 at the Division I level. They last beat the Bears in September 2017.
