DOYLE EARNS SECOND NEC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK HONOR

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Cross country runner Dierdre Doyle (Carlow, Ireland) has been named the women's Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season following her performance at the UAlbany invitational.

Doyle set the tone for the Bulldogs at UAlbany on Saturday, Oct. 17 with a time of 17:49 on the 5K course. The freshman's performance earned fourth place overall, marking the second top-five finish of her rookie campaign in only four meets. Doyle, who has led Bryant in every competition so far this season, was the second NEC runner to clock in and was also the second freshman finisher overall in the field of 193 harriers from 24 institutions.

Doyle's performance helped the women to a 14th place team-finish. She finished just 21 seconds behind the winner, Elise DeRoo of Colgate.

Doyle and her teammates return to action on Saturday, Oct. 31 at the Northeast Conference Championships hosted by Quinnipiac University.
