Bryant heads to Conn. for final tune-up

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – In its final tune up for the Northeast Conference Championships, the Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams travel to New Britain, Conn., on Friday, Oct. 21, to take part in the Central Connecticut State University Mini-Meet.

The Bulldogs are coming off a pair of strong showings at the Brown University Rothenberg Invitational last week. Junior David Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) paced the men's squad with a ninth-place finish, crossing the line with a time of 27:08.7. He has been the first Bulldog to finish in three of the five races this season.

On the women's side, sophomore Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland) ran to a fourth-place finish with a time of 18:36.1. Black has now finished in the top 10 in each of the last three weeks, and she has led the Bulldogs at the line in each of the races she has competed in. Classmate Lauren Ganim (Trumbull, Conn.) continued to improve, registering a career-best time for the second week in a row, crossing the line with a time of 20:19.9.

Following Friday's race, the Black and Gold will prepare for the NEC Championships hosted by Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J., on Saturday, Oct. 29. The men's 8K is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., and the women's 5K set to begin at 11:15 a.m.
