Black runs to All-New England status

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland) became the first runner in Bryant University history to earn All-New England status as the Bulldogs put together their best race of the season at the New England Championships on Sunday at Stanley Park.

Finishing fifth with a new personal-best time of 17:21.67, Black became Bryant's first-ever All-New England runner and helped the Black and Gold finish a program-best 10th out of 37 teams. David Hurley (Ashaway, R.I.) paced the men with a time of 26:04.71 as the Bulldogs finished 31st out of 37 teams.

Bryant placed two more runners inside the top 50 as freshman Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.) and Martha Reynolds (London, England) finished 38th and 48th, respectively. Tuxbury finished with a time of 18:11.91 and Reynolds broke the tape with a time of 18:23.81. Bryant's next two runners were both freshman as Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.) and Staci Rezendes (Ludlow, Mass.) finished 114th and 150th.

On the men's side, a trio of juniors finished behind Hurley. Christopher Chapruet (Danvers, Mass.) finished 155th with a time of 26:26.39, Jeffrey Dorosh (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished 165th with a time of 26:38.36 and Colin Gannon (Litchfield, Conn.) finished 168th with a time of 26:42.02.

The Bulldogs will now begin preparations for the Northeast Conference Championships by competing in the CCSU Mini Meet on Oct. 19.
