BULLDOG HARRIERS COMPETE AT NCAA NORTHEAST REGIONAL ON FRIDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – For the first time in school history, the Bryant University cross country team will be racing in an NCAA event as it competes in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet this Friday, Nov. 9 at Hammonassett Park in Madison, Conn.

The Bulldog harriers will also be the first team in Bryant's Division I history to compete in an NCAA event. Head coach Stephanie Reilly has led this year's runners to their best season since joining Division I. The women are coming off a third-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships, while the men finished 10th. The Bulldogs also possess NEC champion Eimear Black (Glengormley, Ireland). The Ireland native became the first individual champion since Nicole Radzik won the 2007 NE-10 championship.

On Friday, the Bulldogs will send Black, Martha Reynolds, Annmarie Tuxbury, Erin Svensen, Megan Robertson, Kara Walsh, Brooke Tomasetti and Staci Rezendes. Reynolds and Tuxbury finished fifth and ninth, respectively, with Tuxbury taking home NEC Rookie of the Year honors. Senior Colin Gannon (Litchfield, Conn.) will be the lone runner from the men's team competing.

Friday's regional meet will be hosted by Yale University and features 38 of the best teams from the Northeast Region. Central Connecticut, Sacred Heart and Quinnipiac will also be competing from the NEC. The Bobcats are coming off of their eighth-straight conference title. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
