Bryant XC enjoys strong performance at New Englands Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University cross country teams put together one of their best performances at the New England Championships on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

The women placed five runners in the top 200 to finish 22nd out of 39 teams, while the men placed three in the top 200 and finished 31st. Boston University won the men's team event and Boston College took home the women's title.

Leading the way for Bryant on the women's side was senior Annmarie Tuxbury (New Hartford, Conn.). She finished the 5k course 56th with a time of 18:41.9. Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.), Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.), Sarah Lapham (Greenwich, N.Y.), Elizabeth Willmonton (Rowley, Mass.) and Staci Rezendes (Ludlow, Mass.) all finished in within the top 200. Svensen finished 103rd (19:11.7), McNeil was 111th (19:16.0), Lapham placed 172nd (19:47.2), Willmonton was 177th (19:54.1) and Rezendes finished 187th (20:06.1).

On the men's side, Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) led the way with a 66th-place finish. He posted a time of 25:43.8 on the 8K course. Russell Stevens (Colchester, Conn.) finished 146th (26:33.5) and Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished 161st (26:44.3). Ryan Poholek (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Alexander Evans (Bow, N.H.) finished just outside of the top 200, placing 204th and 214th respectively.

The Bulldogs will have a week off before running in the CCSU Mini-Meet on October 23.
