Bulldogs wrap up championship preparation at CCSU Mini-Meet

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the CCSU Mini-Meet on Friday in New Britain, Conn., their final preparation for the Northeast Conference Championships this weekend at Bryant University.

The men finished 10th out of 15 teams and the women finished 15th out of 17 teams in the meet. Central Connecticut won the men's race and Yale won the women's.

Milan Duka (Belgrade, Serbia) led the men with a 10th-place finish, posting a time of 15:23. Russell Stevens (Colchester, Conn.) finished 53rd, Richard Landry (Holyoke, Mass.) finished 58th and Thomas Mullally (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) finished 61st. Matt McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.) wrapped up Bryant's scorers with a 77th-place finish.

On the women's side, all five scoring runners finished within two seconds of each other. Brittany Sarza (Uxbridge, Mass.) led the group at 11:22.8 and was followed closely by Elizabeth Willmonton (Rowley, Mass.) with a time of 11:22.9. Emily McNeil (Shelton, Conn.) finished 71st with a time of 11:23.4, Erin Svensen (Medway, Mass.) was 72nd and Sarah Lapham (Greenwich, N.Y.) finished 73rd.

The Bulldogs will host the NEC Championships next Saturday, October 31. The men's race will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the women will run at noon.
