Sullivan, McGovern lead Bryant at NCAA Northeast Regionals

BUFFALO, N.Y. –  The Bryant University cross country team concluded its season on Friday as the Bulldogs competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional meet held in Buffalo, New York.

The Bryant men finished 33rd overall among the 37 schools represented, while the women finished 32nd among 36 competing colleges and universities. 

Sophomore Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) led the way for the women and finished 133rd overall among the 251 participants. On the men's side, Matt McGovern (Long Beach, N.Y.) crossed the finish line first among Bulldog runners, finishing 153rd overall.

MEET NOTES

  • McGovern and Sullivan each placed first for the Bulldogs for the first time this season. Lodge previously finished first for the women in each meet, while Ryan Poholek (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Noah Tellier (North Kingston, R.I.) switched off team-leading performances.
  • Poholek shaved ten seconds off his time at last year's regional championships, which were run at Van Cordtland Park in Bronx, New York. Harrison McKinlay (Sutton, Mass.) also improved, taking off 32 seconds over his time in 2016.
  • Sullivan's time was eight seconds better than last year. She finished 133rd in 2017, compared to a 215th place finish last year.
  • Each team had the same finish as last year's running.
