Bryant men's squad picked sixth in NEC poll

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Bryant University men's cross country was selected to place sixth in the Northeast Conference in a preseason poll of the league's head coaches, as announced Thursday by the NEC.

Central Connecticut received six of eight first-place votes in its effort to capture its 10th consecutive Northeast Conference title. Sacred Heart and Mount St. Mary's were selected second and third with one first-place vote each, while Saint Francis U and Wagner rounded out the top five.

Bryant's sixth-place selection ranked the Bulldogs ahead of Fairleigh Dickinson and St. Francis Brooklyn.

The Black and Gold finished fifth at last year's Northeast Conference Championship and return four of their top seven runners from last year's conference meet, led by sophomore Noah Tellier (North Kingstown, R.I.), who placed 19th as a freshman.

Bryant begins the 2018 cross country season Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Nassaney Invitational on the Bryant campus. It will be the first of two meets in Smithfield this fall, as the Bulldogs will host the Northeast Conference Championships Saturday, Oct. 27.

The Northeast Conference women's cross country preseason poll will be announced Friday.
