Ayres, Freeman earned NEC All-Rookie honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University freshman Julia Ayres (Collegeville, Pa.) and Sarah Freeman (Merrimac, Mass.) were named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie team as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Ayres worked her way to become one of the top runners for the Bulldogs as she started climbing the ranks with each race. The Pennsylvania native was consistently the first or second runner in six of the program's seven races. Ayres broke through as a top Bulldog runner at the CCSU Mini-Meet and then again at the NEC Championship.

Freeman was also one of Bryant's top female runners this season as she led the Bulldogs at the Vermont Fall Foliage running her personal best of 20:29.2.  

Five other runners accompany the freshman duo on the Women's All-Rookie Team.
