Slaney named America East Fall Scholar Athlete for cross country

BOSTON, MASS. - Men's cross country runner Ryan Slaney was named as a winner of the America East Fall Scholar-Athlete awards on Tuesday afternoon. Slaney is one of six athletes to be recognized by the conference for both their academic and athletic excellence. Slaney finished this past fall semester with a 4.0 GPA; he is currently pursuing a degree in finance.

Slaney competed in five meets for the Bulldogs this past fall; finishing inside the top 10 in four of them. He recorded PR's of 24:27.7 in the 8k at the America East Championships and 30:34.6 in the 10k at the NCAA Northeast Regionals. He was the top finisher for Bryant in every race he ran leading him to be named team runner of the year. Slaney has also received academic accolades from the America East who named him to their All Academic team as well as earning the Elite-18 award which is given to the runner with the best combination of finish and GPA.
