Bulldogs battle Broncs under the lights Friday and Hawks Sunday for senior day

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University field hockey team wraps up their regular season with a home match under the lights on Friday against Rider, followed by Monmouth on Sunday for senior day.

The Bulldogs (3-14, 1-3 MAAC) are coming off a tough, one-goal loss against nonleague opponent La Salle (Oct. 25), adding to their nine-game total decided by a single score. The Broncs (10-6, 2-2 MAAC) defeated Sacred Heart, 3-1, on their senior day, while the Hawks (7-9, 4-0) are on a four-game winning streak, defeating every league contender they have faced thus far.

Junior Victoria Danby (Lancaster, Mass.) continues to lead the Bulldogs offensively, adding two more scores in the latest match to her 12-goal total. The forward has also notched two assists on the season, totaling 26 points in 17 starts.

The Black and Gold are strongly supported by the efforts of the senior class. Senior Bronwyn Walton (North Vancouver, B.C.) has recorded nine points off three scores and three helpers, while ranking second on the team in total shots (24).

Classmate Mikayla Fitzmaurice (Skowhegan, Maine) has started all 17 games, logging two assists, one defensive stop and 14 shots from the backline. Fellow senior Nicole Plante (Smithfield, R.I.) has also contributed a pair of helpers and five shots to the Bulldogs' offensive effort.

The Black and Gold are protected in net by freshman Marissa Elizardo (New Wales, Pa.), who has charted 85 saves and a shutout in 15 games.

The Broncs are led offensively by Allison Baligian with 27 points from 13 goals and a single assists, while Cori Allen heads the Hawks' attack with 19 points from eight scores and three helpers.

Joelle Prettyman has spent the majority of time in net for the Broncs scooping up 57 saves, while allowing 27 opponent scores. The Hawks' cage is protected by Christen Piersanti with 74 saves and 41 goals against in all 16 starts.

The Bulldogs face the Broncs on Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., under the lights in Smithfield and again at home on Sunday, Nov. 1 against the Hawks at 1 p.m. Fans can follow along with live stats at bryantbulldogs.com or watch the live broadcast at necfrontrow.com.
