Mummau, James continue to rake in honors, named 2017 USILA/Nike Scholar All-Americans

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The postseason honors continue to pour in for senior captains Kyle Mummau (Carlsbad, Calif.) and Tucker James (Essex Fells, N.J.), as the pair were named 2017 USILA/Nike Scholar All-Americans Thursday.

Just one day after being named the Northeast Conference Male Student-Athlete of the Year, Mummau adds this top honor to a long list of accolades. A three-time All-NEC First Team selection and the cornerstone of the Bulldog defense over the last four seasons, Mummau was a four-year starter and the team's top cover option throughout his career. Already an All-New England Second Team nod and MLL draftee this season, Mummau recorded career highs in ground balls (26) and caused turnovers (18) as a senior while anchoring a Bryant defense ranked fifth in the nation at 8.16 goals allowed per game.

The senior continued to excel in the classroom, where he graduated with a degree in biology and minors in business administration and biotechnology with 3.75 GPA. A finalist for Bryant's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Mummau is a four-time NEC Academic Honor Roll selection and qualified for the Dean's List all eight semesters.

James adds to his laundry list of achievements with his second All-America selection of 2017 after being named a USILA/Nike All-America Honorable Mention on May 24. Leading the Bulldogs in goals, assists and points as a senior, he became the first player in the program's Division I era to hit the 70-point threshold in a single season (43g, 27a). The senior captain and MLL draftee ranked atop the Northeast Conference and finished the season 26th nationally in points per game (3.68), also ranking in the nation's top-50 in goals per game (34th, 2.26), man-up goals (16th, 6) and assists per game (47th, 1.42).

A four-time all-conference selection and three-time All-NEC First Teamer, James leaves the Bulldog program as the Division I record holder for career points (226) and goals (141), ranking third all-time in both categories. A two-time NEILA All-New England selection, the four-year starter set a new program mark for career games started (73) and holds the Bulldogs' single-game records for points (13), assists (7) and shots (15). In the classroom, the finance major graduated with a 3.12 GPA.

The pair are two of four Scholar All-Americans selected out of the Northeast Conference and among the six picked from Rhode Island's three DI programs. In total, 55 seniors from 36 different programs were awarded the honor.
