Bulldogs host Saint Peter's Sat. at 3 pm

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Looking to rebound after a difficult loss to Rider on Sunday, the Bryant University men's soccer team will host its lone game this weekend facing the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Saturday at 3 p.m.

After splitting last week against UMass Lowell and Rider, the Bulldogs look to improve their 2-4 record headed into Saturday. The lone goal in Thursday's contest vs. the River Hawks came in the first half from junior forward Brett Larocque (Ottawa, Ont.), solidifying the 1-0 victory. Larocque currently ranks3rd among the Northeast Conference leaders in goals scored, knocking in four for the Black and Gold through six games. Freshman goalkeeper Nick Stewart (South Windsor, Conn.) added to the Bulldogs aid making five saves and a shutout in his first collegiate start.

After a tough loss at Rider on Sunday, the Bulldogs return to action at home on Saturday vs. a Saint Peter's team coming off back-to-back losses. An aggressive dual between the two hungry teams is anticipated as both look to hit the ground running heading into conference play in October. While the Peacocks have a 1-4 overall record, it does not show their true colors. They've endured three one-goal losses this season, including an overtime loss to UNH in the Mayor's Cup on September 5th. The Peacocks main threat is forward Marcel Maddee who scored both Peacocks goals in their lone win this season over Hartwick. He assisted on the only goal in Saint Peter's double overtime win over the Bulldogs last season in Jersey City, NJ.

With just over two weeks until NEC play starts, the Black and Gold will look to get things going on Saturday against the Peacocks.
