Bryant takes down UAlbany on Senior Night

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University men's soccer team beat UAlbany 3-1 to pick up their second straight conference on Saturday night.

The team's 12 wins ties them for the most wins in program history, a mark that was set in 2001.

Scoring Summary

  • 25th minute - Bryant 1, UAlbany 0 - Javier Soler Gandia drew a foul 40 yards out from goal. Vicente Valor Martinez stepped up to take the free kick and found the head of Abdel Talabi at the top of the 6-yd box. Talabi nodded the ball across the goal to Soler who tapped the ball in for the goal.
  • 27th minute - Bryant 1, UAlbany 1 - The Danes' defense played a long ball on the ground to Ander Castillo. Castillo then played a through ball to a wide open Chris Lee who slotted the ball back across the goal mouth to an oncoming Alejandro Giner. Giner made the slide and was able to find the back of the net.
  • 40th minute - Bryant 2, UAlbany 1 - Filippo Censini played a ball into Marc Pitarch Bayot in the attacking third. Pitarch got himself face-up and was able to create just enough space between him and his defender to find the lower left corner with his right foot.
  • 76th minute - Bryant 3, UAlbany 1 - Inigo Villadea switched the field and found the feet of Adrian Camacho. Camacho then took on his defender and gave himself the ability to place a rocket into the lower right corner for an insurance goal.

Notes and Notables

  • The victory moves the Bulldogs into fourth place in the America East standings.
  • Pitarch's goal was his seventh of the season. He leads the team in both goals and points.
  • Valor's assist increased his team-leading total to six.
  • Soler's goal was his fifth of the season while Camacho's was his fourth on the year.
  • Talabi's assist was the first of his career.
  • Goaltender Antreas Hadjigavriel did not register a save in the match.
