Bulldogs stay hot, slip past Quinnipiac, 4-3, Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University men's tennis team won its second-straight match with a 4-3 win over Quinnipiac Saturday evening in North Haven, Conn.

With the win over the former Northeast Conference foe, the Bulldogs are now winners of three of their last four with just under a month remaining before the NEC Championships on April 17.

On Saturday, the Black and Gold got out to a 1-0 start behind a strong doubles showing thanks to wins from Zachary Morris (Garden City, N.Y) and Ernesto Arguello (Managua, Nicaragua) at No. 2 doubles and Luke Lorenz (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Oliver Welsh (San Diego, Calif.) at the No. 3 spot.

In singles play, Morris continued his hot play of late with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Eric Amrosio in the No. 2 position, while freshman Matt Kuhar (Smithfield, R.I.) and junior Max Vogt (Fair Oaks, Calif.) helped secure the narrow, 4-3, victory for the Bulldogs with wins at No. 1 and 5 singles, respectively.

Looking ahead, Bryant will open NEC play with a huge weekend in Teaneck, N.J., with matches vs. Saint Francis U. on Saturday and Fairleigh Dickinson on Sunday.
