Bulldogs set three school records at Bates Invitational

LEWISTON, Maine -- Freshman Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) broke his own school shot put record and the team of Sarah Lapham (Greenwich, Conn.), Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.), Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) set a new program record in the 4x800 meter relay as the Bryant University track & field team competed in the Bates Invitational this weekend in Lewiston.

COACH SWITZER'S COMMENTS:

"I am pleased with how the team competed at Bates.  While we lost to a very good UMaine team, we came away with a lot of individual victories and a few school records. I told the team this was a chance for us to compete while focusing on place and they did just that. In a few weeks at NECs, that's whats going to be most important."

TOP PERFORMERS (MEN)

  • Fasano's throw of 14.74 meters broke his school record of 14.58 meters that he set last week at the Spartan Invitational on Staten Island.
  • The freshman also entered the record books in the weight throw, throwing for a distance of 14.67 meters. The distance put him fourth all-time, besting his previous distance of 14.58 meters, also set last weekend.
