As a junior: One of the top long distance runners for the Bulldogs in 2017-18.

Indoor - Compted in the 1000, 3000, 5000, and mile ... Posted best times of 2:42.36 in 1000, 8:42.86 in 3000, 15:10.98 in 5000, and 4:32.99 in the mile.

Outdoor - Competed in the 1500, 3000, 5000, and 10,000 ... Posted best times of 4:06. 92 in the 1500, 8:59.97 in the 3000, 15:26.93 in the 5000, and 32:27.37 in 10,000. 

As a sophomore: Had a strong season for the Bulldogs in 2016-17.

Indoor - Posted the teams best times in the 3000 (8:57.67) and the 5000 (15:22.39) ... Finished eighth in the 5000 at the NEC Championships ... Named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll.

Outdoor - Posted the second-fastest 3000 steeplechase in school history (9:33.14) ... Fastest time run since 2007 ... Posted team best times of 9:03.25 in the 3000, 15:22.39 in the 5000 and 32:40.21 in the 10000. 

As a freshman: Only competed during the outdoor season in 2015-16.

Indoor - Did not compete.

Outdoor - Competed in the 1500, mile, 3000 and 3000 steeple ... Posted top times of 4:12.29 in the 1500, 4:39.56 in the mile, 9:12.53 in the 3000 and 10:23.02 in the 3000 steeple.

Before Bryant: A four-year varsity letterwinner in cross country at Long Beach ... Qualified for the state cross country meet ... Earned All-County honors ... Also competed four years in indoor and outdoor track and field ... Earned All-Division honors and was a three-time division champion ... Also a conference champion in track and field.

Personal: The son of Claire and Tom McGovern, Matthew McGovern was born on Aug. 1, 1997 ... Has a brother, Thomas, and a sister, Emma.
