Bulldogs head to Emmitsburg for 2018 NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University track and field team is set for competition at the 2018 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are slated to begin Saturday at 10 a.m., with two days of competition on tap.
The Bulldogs enter the weekend strong in the 400m race on both the men's and women's side. Sophomore Emily Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y.) leads all participants heading into the Championships with a time of 55.03, while classmate Brian Murray (Westford, Mass.) enters the weekend 9th in the race with a time of 50.01.
Senior Ryan Poholek (Attleboro, Mass.) is slated second in the men's 800m with a time of 1:51.99, sitting 2.51 behind first.
The combination of senior Melissa Lodge (Hopkinton, Mass.) and sophomores Jacklyn Sullivan (Plymouth, Mass.) and Olivia Weiss (Newton, N.J.) pose a strong threat for the Bulldogs in the Women's 1500m, with Lodge slated first, while Sullivan and Weiss are also in the top five.
Bryant also has a solid presence in the Men's 10000m, with senior Robert McCabe (Marlborough, Mass.) and sophomore Harrison McKinlay (Sutton, Mass.) coming into Emmitsburg, Md. with a fifth- and sixth-place seeding, respectively.
Rounding out the track presence is the Bulldogs' 4x800m relay team, which has a seed of fifth with an entry time of 9:03.66.
Moving onto field events, freshman Chris Fasano (Lake Grove, N.Y.) has a chance to have a great impact for the Bulldogs. He enters the weekend slated first in the discus and second in the shot put. Classmate Brett Cloutier (North Attleboro, Mass.) is also slated in the Top 10 of the men's shot put, placed at ninth.
In the pole vault, freshman Jacob Borgia (Westborough, Mass.) and junior Alexandra Watts (Clinton, Conn.) both go into the Championships in the Top 10 on the seed list, with Borgia coming in ninth and Watts slotted at 10th.
Another field event to look for is the men's javelin, where two Bulldogs enter the NECs with Top 7 placements. Freshman Nick Alessandro (Pomfret Center, Conn.) and graduate student Keenan Devaney (Tolland, Conn.) are sixth and seventh, respectively.
