Bulldogs Defeat LIU 17-6, Improve to 3-0 in NEC

SMITHFIELD, R.I.- The Bryant women's lacrosse team extended its winning streak to three games with a dominant win over LIU Saturday afternoon. Kenna Kaut scored four times and Alexa Weber posted her second hat trick of the season to lead the Bulldogs, who improve to 3-0 in conference play.

How it Happened

Q1: Both teams went scoreless in the opening minutes of the game, until Weber and Margaret Adams each found the net to put Bryant up 2-0 with just under five minutes left in the period. The Bulldog defense was strong in the first, limiting LIU to just two shots on goal.

Q2: Kenna Kaut scored twice in the first three minutes of the second, extending the Bryant lead to three. LIU responded with a pair of goals, but a 4-0 run by the Bulldogs gave them a five goal lead at the half. Kaut and Lily Auger each scored twice for Bryant in the quarter.

Q3: Bryant had another six goal period in the third, including the third and fourth of the game from Kaut. The quarter was the highest scoring of the game, as the Sharks found the net three times as well. Alexa Weber and Emily Diaz each had a goal and assist in the period.

Q4: LIU was held scoreless in the fourth quarter as the Bulldogs extended their lead with three more goals. Sam Centofante saved all four shots she saw in the period, and the Bulldog scoring was capped with Sophie Glassman's first career goal with 1:46 remaining.

Bulldog Notes and Notables

  • Kenna Kaut eclipsed the four goal mark for the third straight game and fifth time overall this season. She also had two draw controls and caused a turnover in the game.

  • Chamberlaine Bell posted a season high five assists in the game. She and Weber tied for the team lead with five points each.

  • With her fourth quarter goal, Sophie Glassman became the thirteenth different player to score a goal for Bryant this season.

  • The eleven goal margin of victory was the second largest for Bryant this season, and the 17 goals were their third most in eight games.
