Bulldogs head west for Colorado over weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University women's soccer team will look to snap a two-game skid over the weekend in The Centennial State, when it takes on Colorado on Friday (6 p.m. EST) and Northern Colorado on Sunday (2 p.m. EST).

The Bulldogs enter weekend action with a 2-6 overall mark coming off two more one-goal losses last week, dropping a 1-0 decision at New Hampshire before falling to Akron, 3-2, in double overtime on Sunday at Bulldog Soccer Field. Despite their largest scoring output of the season thanks to Sarah Schucker's (Nanuet, N.Y.) second marker of the season and Melaina Aglieco's (Rocky Hill, Conn.) first-career goal, the Black and Gold were unable to get over the hump on Sunday, ultimately falling in double overtime for the third time this year. All eight of Bryant's games have been of the one-goal variety, including three double overtime matches to date.

On Friday, the Bulldogs will face off with Pac-12 foe Colorado for the first time in program history. The Buffaloes enter Friday's action with a 5-2 overall mark, most recently picking up a 2-1 win over Denver a week ago. Through seven games, seniors Carly Bolyard and Darcy Jerman lead the Buffs with six points apiece, while Kate Scheele has only allowed four goals in seven starts between the pipes.

On Sunday, Bryant heads to Greeley, Colo., for a showdown with Northern Colorado at 2 p.m. EST. The Bears enter weekend play with a 4-4 overall mark, coming off a 4-1 win over Nebraska-Omaha on Sunday.  Sophomore Kassy Castillo and senior Juliana Grover lead their team with six points apiece, with Grover scoring three of UNC's 11 goals this season. Sophomore keeper Kaitlin Ruff has started all eight games in net thus far, allowing 11 goals in 689+ minutes (1.44 GAA). The Bulldogs last played Northern Colorado on Aug. 22, 2008 in their first-ever match as a Division I institution, topping the Bears, 3-2, in overtime, marking Bryant's first win as a DI institution.
