Bryant faces UNH, CCSU Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Idle since last Wednesday, the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team will travel north to the Granite State to compete in a tri-meet with the University of New Hampshire and Northeast Conference foe Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Swasey Pool in Durham, N.H.

The Bulldogs (1-2) dropped a 125-92 decision to the Huskies last Wednesday in Boston, Mass., and have dropped back-to-back meets since opening the year with a victory over Boston College. Junior Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.) won the 50 free and 100 free, Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) won the 200 breast, and Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.) won the 200 free. Bryant's team of Ostrander, DeBever, Amy D'Olympia (Mattapoisett, Mass.) and Mara Valenzuela (Bridgewater, N.J.) claimed the 200 free relay.

On the year, Ostrander has a team-best seven first-place finishes, DeBever has finished first four times, Smith has touched the wall first on three occasions and Valenzuela has one top finish.

Last year, the Blue Devils defeated Bryant, 171-91, at the Chace Athletic Center Pool. Ostrander earned the Bulldogs' only first-place finish, winning the 100 back.

Saturday's tri-meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. Following the meet, the Bulldogs return to the Chace Athletic Center Pool to face Providence College on Wednesday, Nov. 9.
