Bryant competes at Siena on Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Looking to build off a pair of victories over Providence College on Wednesday night, the Bryant University men's swimming and the women's swimming and diving teams travel to Loudonville, N.Y., on Saturday, Nov. 12, to compete against Siena College and Niagara University.

The Bulldog women (2-4) will compete in a tri-meet against both schools, while the Bulldog men (2-2) will challenge Niagara in a dual meet.

Against Providence on Wednesday, the women were led by a record-breaking performance from junior Casey Ostrander (Yarmouthport, Mass.). The two-time Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Year, Ostrander set three individual pool records and was also part of the 200 medley relay team that set a pool record to begin the meet. On the season, Ostrander has one 11 events. Right behind her is sophomore Taylor DeBever (Denver, Colo.). Also a three-time winner against the Friars, DeBever has won seven events on the season. Junior Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) was another Bulldog that turned in a strong performance against Providence, winning two events and setting a pool record in the 200 breast for the second time this season.

After a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Friars last season, the men earned a bit of revenge with a 137-125 victory over the Friars on Wednesday. Senior Alex Kosenski (Lavallette, N.J.) remained perfect on the season, winning the 50, 100 and 200 free events, setting a pool record for the second consecutive meet in the 200. Freshman Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) won all three of his events on the evening and classmate John Lawson (Bernardsville, N.J.) won the 200 fly and finished in the top three in two other events.

Come Saturday, the Bulldogs and Saints will try to break free from each other on the women's side. Last year at the Chace Athletic Center Pool, the two tied, 131-131, in a tri-meet that also featured St. Francis (NY). DeBever won three events that afternoon and Smith and Ostrander combined to win four.

The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Following this weekend, the women will travel to Burlington, VT, next Sunday, Nov. 20, to face the Vermont Catamounts. The men will compete in the Terrier Invitational in Boston, Mass., beginning on Friday, Nov. 18, and continuing through the weekend.
