Karadimas paces Bulldogs at URI Invite

KINGSTON, R.I. – Sophomore Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.) won two events and anchored the 200 free relay to a first-place finish and the 400 medley relay team to a second-place a finish as the Bryant University men's swimming and women's swimming and diving teams finished competition at the Harold Anderson Invitational at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday.

Karadimas won the 50 free with a time of 22.01, the 100 free with a time of 48.56. He teamed up with Tim McGrath (Hyannis, Mass.)Logan Hammerstein (Fairfield Township, Ohio) andJohn Lawson (Bernardsville, N.J.) to win the 200 free relay in a time of 1:28.83 and thenSteve Sinclair (Middleton, Mass.) replaced Hammerstein to help Bryant finish second in the 400 free relay. Cameron Hessler (Southbury, Conn.)Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.), Lawson and Karadimas combined to finish second in the 400 medley relay.

Individually, Beck and McGrath placed 2-3 in the 400 IM, Keagan Boshoff (Munich, Germany)finished second in the 100 breast (1:00.73) and 200 breast (2:14.04) and Lawson won the 200 fly with a season-best time of 1:59.79.

On the women's side, Molly Smith (Belmont, Mass.) put together a very strong two days in the pool. She won the 400 IM with a time of 4:36.76, finished second in the 200 breast (2:23.88) and third in the 200 IM (2:12.00). 

The men's first semester comes to a close with the URI Invitational, but the women will face the Rams in a dual meet next Saturday, Dec. 10, in Kingston, R.I.
