Bulldogs host UMass, NJIT and SFC this weekend

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After nearly a month off from competition, the Bryant University men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool this weekend with a pair of meets. They face UMass on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and take on St. Francis Brooklyn and NJIT in a tri-meet on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

The Bulldogs returned from their annual training trip on Monday and are beginning their preparation for their championships in February and March. Bryant's men's team is 1-3 in dual meets this season, while the women have posted a 4-4 record through the first half of the year.

Sophomores Elisabeth Schauer (Pelham, N.Y.), Jamie Schaefer (Durham, N.C.) and Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.) and freshmen Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.),Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) and Meghan Claflin (Newburyport, Mass.) have been outstanding for the women. Schauer has won seven events, Schaefer has claimed the 200 fly in each of the last three meets, Doerrman has nine first-place finishes in three different events, Poliseno has five victories, Daly has emerged in the 200 free with three victories and Claflin has been strong in the 1000.

On the men's side, senior Nicholas Karadimas (New Milford, Conn.), junior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Joshua Bjornberg (Wallingford, Conn.) have all excelled so far. Karadimas picked up seven victories in the first half of the year, Beck has won the 100 breast three times and Bjornberg five total victories in three different events.
