Bulldogs host Vermont and Maine at Brown University Friday and Saturday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After being dealt a trio of, 3-2, loses against Ivy League opponents, the Bryant University field hockey team returns to play, hosting Vermont on Friday and Maine on Saturday at Brown University.

The Bulldogs (1-7) return to Goldberger Family Field at Brown University to play the Catamounts (2-6) on Friday at 11 a.m. and the Black Bears (7-2) on Saturday at noon.

Currently ranked No. 7 in the country in goals per game, junior forward Victoria Danby (Lancaster, Mass.) has been the main offensive force for the Bulldogs. Not even half way through the season, Danby tallies an impressive 20 points off nine goals and two assists. The forward scored the Bulldogs' two goals in their latest match against Dartmouth (Sept. 20), advancing her goal scoring streak to seven games.

Senior captain Bronwyn Walton (North Vancouver, B.C.) has also produced alongside Danby, notching three goals and two assists for an eight-point total.

Leading the Black and Gold in assists is junior Erin Karcher (Kennet Square, Pa.), who has been the Bulldogs go-to player to insert the ball on penalty corners. Karcher has tallied all four helpers off of set plays from Bryant penalty corner opportunities.

Freshman midfielder Emily Perryman (Lebanon, N.H.) and classmate keeper Marissa Elizardo (New Wwales, Pa.) have been solid for the Bulldogs. Perryman has started all eight games, recording three assists and her first career goal against Yale (Sept. 18). Elizardo has started the last six games for the Black and Gold, totaling 32 saves.

Vermont goalie Lena Benwood has seen the majority of time in net, leading the Catamounts with 48 saves in seven games. Maine sophomore keepers, Emma Cochran and Emily Corbett have nearly split playing time in the cage for the Black Bears. Both have recorded one loss, but Corbett leads the pair with 18 saves, while Cochran has 12.

The Catamounts are led on the attack by Lauren Tucker with four goals and three assists and Molly Higgins with five scores and two helpers. The Black Bears offensive leaders include Danielle Aviani with six goals and three assists and Marissa Shaw with five marks and two aids.
