Bulldogs look to conquer Red Flash and Colonials in league play on Friday and Sunday

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – After finishing last week 2-0 in NEC play, the Bryant University women's soccer team looks to keep up the pace against conference competitors Saint Francis U. on Friday at 3 p.m. and Robert Morris on Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Bulldogs (3-8-1, 2-0) are coming off a program record-breaking week, starting 2-0 in the conference, after defeating Sacred Heart (Oct. 2), 1-0, and Wagner (Oct. 4), 2-1, in Smithfield.

The Red Flash (2-9-1) start league play undefeated, after beating both LIU Brooklyn, 2-1, in overtime, as well as Mount St. Mary's by the same tally on the road.

Due to inclement weather, the Colonials (4-7) were unable to play their first conference game against Wagner (Oct. 2) and therefore will play Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 10 in their first league matchup.

Saint Francis U. is headed on the attack by junior Casey Gallaher and sophomore Allison LaDuke, who have each earned five points off a pair of scores and one assist. Senior goalie Romina Kunze has seen time in 11 of 12 games, receiving the start in ten of them. Kunze has logged 99 saves with 24 goals against.

Senior Cassie Raymond tops the total-points category for Robert Morris, earning nine points from four goals and one helper. The Colonials have played three keepers this season, with Chelsea De Jager receiving the majority of time in net, raking in 44 saves, while allowing 13 opposing scores.

With her game-winning goal against Sacred Heart, Scout Benson (Lynnfied, Mass.) now tops the Bulldogs' charts, with three points off a goal and an assist. The senior also tallied the game-winning assist vs. Wagner and totaled three shots in the two matches.

Junior Caitlin Hannagen (Richboro, Pa.) and senior Shea Williams (Londonderry, N.H.) each notched their first career goals in the 2-1 victory over the Seahawks last week.

After only allowing one opponent goal and recording shutouts in back to back games, goalie Kaylan Conrad (Avon, Conn.) returns in net for the Bulldogs, after receiving NEC Defensive Player of the Week Honors for her performance. The junior advanced her save total to 43, while only allowing 14 goals from the opposition.

The Black and Gold first travel to take on Saint Francis U. on Friday at 3 p.m. before heading to Robert Morris for a 1 p.m. start on Sunday. Fans can follow along with live stats at bryantbulldogs.com or watch the live broadcast at necfrontrow.com.
