Seven Bryant teams earn NCAA Public Recognition Awards

INDIANAPOLIS – Seven Bryant University programs were honored by the NCAA with Public Recognition Awards for their academic performance over the last four years, as announced Wednesday by the NCAA.

The Bryant men's and women's cross country, men's and women's track & field, golf, women's soccer and volleyball programs earned the awards for having an APR score in the top 10 percent of their respective sports. Indoor and outdoor track & field are measured together for the purpose of APR.

The Bulldog men's cross country, men's track & field, women's soccer and volleyball programs all earned Public Recognition Awards for the eighth consecutive season, as all four teams have collected the honor in every eligible season since Bryant's move to Division I.

Bryant's seven teams to earn Public Recognition Awards were the most in the Northeast Conference.

APR scores for all Division I teams will be released May 23. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in every sport. All teams must meet an academic threshold of 930 to qualify for the postseason and can face penalties for continued low academic performance.

The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.
