Bio

Maggie Barden joined the staff as a full-time student athlete academic advisor in November of 2023. She originally came to Bryant University as an intern in student athlete academic advising. She will be in charge of advising women’s basketball, men’s lacrosse, men and women’s track and field. Men and women’s cross country, women’s soccer, and women’s golf.

She is a graduate of Providence College with a M.Ed in Higher Education and a graduate certificate in Sports Administration. Her undergraduate degree is a B.S. in Sports Management with a minor in psychology from Springfield College in Springfield, MA; where she was also a member of the women’s soccer team and a NEWMAC Academic All-Conference student athlete.

While at Providence College, Maggie worked as a graduate assistant in Student Athlete Wellness Services. She also developed a program for graduating student athletes called “Transition from Sport.” The program lays the groundwork for student athletes to begin the transition to a non-athletics focused life style.

Maggie is a native of Swampscott, MA. She is the former general manager of the North Shore Navigators, a team of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. She was the youngest general manager in college summer league baseball. She remains the Navigators’ vice president of operations. 

She continues to participate in competitive sports as a wide receiver and kicker for the Boston Renegades. The Renegades are a professional women’s tackle football team in the Women’s Football Alliance and the current national champions.

Maggie believes in person first academic advising theory, she believes that the best way to be successful in and out the classroom or on and off the field is to care and educate the PERSON.
