Bio

Director of Athletics Development & Senior Associate Athletics Director Mike Bamonti joined the Bryant University staff in June, 2023 after serving the Naval War College Foundation in Newport, RI as Senior Director of Development.

Throughout his career, Bamonti has worked in all areas of athletics fundraising, including annual fund, event planning, corporate sponsorship, and individual major giving.  He has solicited and stewarded major gifts and managed volunteer councils and fundraising staff at the University of Illinois-Chicago, Loyola University Maryland, University of Pennsylvania, and Temple University.

While with the Naval War College Foundation, Bamonti served as the lead major gifts fundraiser for research, scholarship support, curriculum and instruction, capital improvements, endowed chairs, faculty and student achievement awards, regional studies programs, conferences, and signature events.  He was the primary contact for 57 endowed funds, oversaw all aspects of gift planning, and managed the Foundation’s Regional Directors, a subset of the full Board of Trustees.

Prior to that, Bamonti was the Senior Associate Athletics Director and Director of Advancement at the University of Illinois-Chicago from 2018-2021. While at UIC, as a member of Athletics’ Executive Cabinet, he implemented a comprehensive fundraising strategy for the Flames Athletic Fund and IGNITE: The Campaign for UIC, for which Athletics raised more than $16 million.  Bamonti also oversaw the Athletics Advisory Council and served as the sport administrator for the Women’s Golf and Men’s Tennis programs.

From 2015-2018, Bamonti was the Assistant Athletics Director and Director of Athletics Development at Loyola University Maryland, leading all fundraising efforts for 18 varsity sports, including annual fund, major gifts, capital projects, planned gifts, and endowments in support of the university’s comprehensive campaign that raised over $100 million.

A 2003 graduate of Loyola University Maryland, he would earn his Master of Education in Sport & Recreation Administration in 2010 from Temple University where he later served as the Assistant Athletics Director overseeing the annual fund and a major gifts portfolio in successful completion of several capital projects for the Owls from 2010-2014.  He would later move on to the University of Pennsylvania in 2014-15, serving as a member of the athletics development team that secured more than $18 million in new business in 2015.

In 2016, Bamonti was selected by the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD) to participate in the Bobby Purcell Mentorship Program, and in 2020 was selected to attend TopConnect AD, a leadership symposium for aspiring Division I athletics directors.

Bamonti resides in Canton, MA with his wife Eliza and son Chase.
