BRYANT SWIMMING WELCOMES 15 NEW MEMBERS

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant University men's and women's swim coach is pleased to welcome 15 new members to the men's and women's swim programs starting this fall. 

Derek Hawkes
Fr., Westbrook, Maine

Before Bryant: 2010 graduate Westbrook High School … Four-year letterwinner … Maine State Champion in the 500 free, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay … Two-time SMAA All-Conference selection as a junior and senior … New England Champion in the 500 free as a junior and senior and the 200 free as a junior … Two-time All-State selection … Named team MVP as a junior … Rookie Award Recipient … Given the Dennis Connolly Award as a Senior … Led team to runner-up finish at state finals in 2009 and third-place finish in 2010 … Played baseball and football for one year … Chalked up Perfect Attendance for 13 years.

Personal:  Son of Joel and Lori Hawkes … Born July 29, 1992 … Plans to major in business or history at Bryant.

Tim Meskill
Fr., Middletown, Conn.

Before Bryant:  2010 graduate of Middletown High School … Four-year varsity letterwinner … Three-time All-Conference selection … Central Connecticut Conference  Backstroke Champion in 2009 and 2010 … Set school medley relay record as a sophomore … Four-year member of school’s ultimate Frisbee team, helping team to two New England Championships.

Stephen Massaro
Fr., Wakefield, Mass.
Before Bryant:  2010 graduate of Austin Prep in Reading, Mass.  … Four-year varsity letterwinner … Three-year Catholic Central League All-Star … Led team to CCL Championship freshman through junior year … Senior Captain … Helped team qualify for sectional and state championships … Earned Bronze Medal at National Russian Essay contest.
Personal:  Son of Elaine and Fred Massaro … Born May 20, 1992 … Brother Matt is a junior at Bentley … Plans to major in international business with a concentration in finance.

Logan Hammerstein
Fr., Fairfield Township, Ohio

Before Bryant:  2010 graduate of Archbishop Moeller in Cincinnati … Four-year varsity letterwinner … As a senior, named Second Team All-Conference and All-American in the 400 free relay … State qualifier as a junior in the 2000 free relay where he placed third and team placed third overall … Southwest Coaches Classic qualifier in the 50 free, 200 free relay and 400 free relay where he placed first in the 400 free … State qualifier in the 200 and 400 relays placing seventh in the 400 free.
Personal:  Son of Jack and Victoria Hammerstein … Born June 10, 1992 in Muncie, Indiana … Plans to major in international business.

Personal:  Son Susan Dropo … Born October 22, 1991 in Florence, Alabama … Grandson of former Red Sox great Walter Dropo who played from 1949-61.

Corrin Wolf

Before Bryant: 2010 graduate of West Morris Central High School in Chester, N.J. … Four-year varsity letterwinner … 200 free relay finalist at Morris County and NJAC Conference Championships from 2006 to 2009 … State Champion as a sophomore in the 200 free relay … Qualified for New Jersey Junior Olympics as a sophomore … State Finalist in 500 free as a junior .. Finalist at YMCA State Championships in the 500, 1000 and 1650 freestyle … Coaches Award and Iron Person Award recipient … Played junior varsity tennis and four-year honor roll selection.
