Bryant Baseball Splits A Pair With AIC, Saturday

Bulldogs Split With AIC; Play Sunday In Series Finale

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 29, 2006) - Bryant starter Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, Conn.) fanned 11 without walking a batter going the distance picking up the 2-0 game one victory. The Bulldogs posted a 2-0 win in the opener and are now 15-30 and 13-12 in NE-10 play, while the Yellow Jackets who won game two 8-0 are 12-22 and 8-18 in the league.

Uchon Yi, who also fanned three, allowed just four baserunners on the afternoon as he did not walk anybody as he tossed a complete game three hitter.  He also did not allow a hit until Chris Brown (Norwalk, Conn.) got one of his two hits when he led off the fifth inning with a single.

AIC took a 1-0 lead in the first when a Jeff Rustico (Plantsville, Conn.) single plated Drew Kohl (Easthampton, Mass.).  They added two more in the second when Jon Ferry's (Thorndike, Mass.) double plated Kevin Farrell (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Dominic Meattey (Fitzwilliam, N.H.).  Meattey would drive in Neal Quesnel (South Hadley, Mass.) in the sixth to make it 4-0, then the Yellow Jackets scored four times in the seventh, grabbing two of those runs on a single by Farrell.

Farrell, Ferry and Rustico had two hits apiece in the nightcap, with Farrell and Ferry driving in a pair of runs apiece.  Meattey also registered two RBI, scoring Rustico on a sacrifice fly in the seventh. Chad Valenti (Glastonbury, Conn.) would get Bryant's other hit when he led off the ninth with a single.

In the opener, the Yellow Jackets mustered just a pair of hits off Bryant starter Eric Loh (Old Greenwich, Conn.), a Farrell single in the second and a Meattey single in the fifth.  Loh fanned 11 without walking a batter.  AIC starter Terry Loh (Milford, Conn.), the cousin of Eric, went the distance and scattered seven hits while fanning six.

Bryant plated its first run of the game when Valenti led off the second inning with a single and scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Paul Novakowski (Prospect, Conn.).  The Bulldogs plated their second run in the eighth when once again Valenti led off with a single and came home on a single by Brown.  Valenti finished with three hits in the opener for the guests.

AIC and Bryant meet Sunday in a 1:00 game in Smithfield, R.I.
