Baseball Drops Pair of Tough Games 1-0, 4-3 to #9/15 Franklin Pierce; Rocco Fifth Bulldog to Have 200 Career Hits
RINDGE, N.H. - The Bryant baseball team dropped a pair of tough game Saturday afternoon at #9/15 Franklin Pierce, losing 1-0 and 4-3.
Senior 1B Mike Rocco (Tewskbury, Mass.) singled with two-outs in the first inning of game two to become the fifth Bulldog to have 200 career hits.
In the first game, Eric Loh (East Greenwich, CT) battled Ravens pitchers Tom Cote and Clay Jenkins, but lost the shutout in the ninth Kevin Rivers doubled home Kevin Ranaud with the game's only run.
The Bulldogs gave Loh no support as they left 10 runners on base, including six in the first three innings.
After falling behind 3-1 in the second game, the Bulldogs stormed back to tie with two runs in the seventh inning as CF Nick Campbell (Raynham, Mass.) doubled home 2B Dave Muscatello (Hopkinton, Mass.) and SS Pat McKenna (Orange, CT).
But the Bulldogs could not keep the lead behind reliever Eric Polvani (Walingford, CT) as Polvani surrendered an unearned run after a Muscatello error.
3B Jay Alexander (Simsbury, CT) had a base knock in both games, extending his hitting streak to 11 games.
The Bulldogs (23-15, 16-6 NE-10) take on the Ravens Sunday at the Bryant Baseball Complex at 1 p.m.
