About Cowan: Cowan is a talented righty with a good fastball and the endurance to pitch deep into games, making him a key starter for the Bulldog pitching staff.

As a junior: Made nine starts in 11 game appearances ... Compiled a 3-5 record with a 4.68 ERA in 60 innings ... Recorded 38 strikeouts ... Played for the Allegheny County Nitros of the New York Collegiate League over the summer, where he was the starting pitcher in mid-season All-Star game.

As a sophomore: Made 11 starts in 13 mound appearances ... Went 5-6 with a 3.04 ERA, registering 49 strikeouts to just 22 walks ... Won last five decisions of the season, including 3-0 win vs. nationally ranked UMass Lowell (threw eight shutout innings, allowing five hits while striking out seven).
