THIBODAUX, La. - The Bryant University baseball team dropped a tough decision Sunday in the final game of the Big Boy Classic presented by Hampton Inn as the Bulldogs let a one-run lead late slip away in falling to Tennessee-Martin 6-3 at Nicholls State University.

Bryant (0-3) fell behind early as the Sky Hawks plated a pair of runs in the top of the second inning off starter Salvatore Lisanti (Bronx, N.Y.).  But the Bulldogs would respond, scoring three times in the bottom of the second to take its first lead of the game, 3-2. 

Senior Jeff Vigurs (South Windsor, Conn.), who had a big day with three hits in the ball game, got the rally started by leading off the inning by lining a double down the right field line.  He would move to third two batters later on a Jamie Skagerlind (Holden, Mass.) ground out and come around to score when Kevin Brown (Northborough, Mass.) laced a single to right for the RBI.

Zakary Cicanciolo (Prospect, Conn.) followed with a double down the left field line to score Brown and Mike DelPonte (Tewksbury, Mass.) doubled to right to score Cianciolo.

From there, Lisanti cruised.  The freshman righty was strong in allowed just two UTM hits over the next five innings and off the scoreboard as the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead into the top of the eighth inning. 

However, with Joseph Michaud (Milford, Conn.) on in relief of Lisanti, Tennessee-Martin (6-1) would score three times in the top of the inning to take a 5-3 lead and added a run in the ninth for the win.

Bryant had five doubles in the game including two by Cianciolo.  Vigurs was 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored while DelPonte, Brown and Dylan Stone (Portsmouth, R.I.) each had a pair of hits.

The Bulldogs will return to action next weekend when they visit Davidson University on Friday.
