BASEBALL'S KEVIN BROWN NAMED FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN

BRYANT’S KEVIN BROWN NAMED TO LOUISVILLE SLUGGER’S FRESHMAN ALL-AMERICAN TEAM

SMITHFIELD, R.I  -- Following an outstanding freshman season, the awards continue to roll in for Bryant University baseball standout Kevin Brown (Northborough, Mass./ Algonquin) who was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American for 2010, selected by Collegiate Baseball, Brown was one of 14 freshman outfielders selected, joining players from some of the top Division I baseball programs in the country.

Brown, who becomes Bryant’s first Division I All-American and the school’s eighth All-America baseball honoree, had an incredible freshman season for Bryant.  The left fielder hit .355 with six home runs and 40 RBIs for the 2010 Northeast Conference regular season champions.  He was named the NEC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-Conference after leading the conference in four offensive categories including doubles with 23, triples with seven, plate appearances (255) and at-bats with 231.  Brown’s seven triples tied the school record for triples in a season while his 23 doubles were just one shy of the school record.

The Bulldogs posted a 34-22 overall record and 25-7 record in the NEC in winning the regular season title in only its first year as a member of the NEC.
