SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Coming off a second-straight Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Year award, junior Casey Ostrander has showed no signs of slowing down in 2011, being named the conference’s first Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday.

The honor, the fourth of her career, comes after she helped the Bulldogs to a 1-1 weekend against Boston College and Wagner College. Of the six individual events she competed in over the course of the two meets, Ostrander won four and also helped the 200 medley relay to a pair of victories.

On Friday, Ostrander helped Bryant defeat an ACC school for the first time, winning the 50 free, 100 back and 200 back, and swimming the lead leg of the 200 medley relay. The following afternoon against the Seahawks, she again won the 100 back and helped the 200 medley relay to another first place showing. Her current times in the 50 free, 100 back and 200 back are also the top times in the conference so far this season.

Bryant returns to the pool this Sunday, Oct. 23, when it heads to Cambridge, Mass., to face Harvard University.
