As a freshman: Shook off a rough first start to put together one of the finest rookie seasons in Bryant history ... Named the 2012 NEC Rookie of the Year and Second Team All-NEC after going 5-1 with a 2.94 ERA in 14 appearances, 10 starts ... He tossed 70 1/3 innings, struck out 41 and walked 20 ... Was even better against league opponents, going 4-0 with a league-best 1.54 ERA in eight starts ... After allowing seven runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings in his first career start, he did not allow lose another game or allow more than three runs in a contest the rest of the season ... Came back to strike out six in 4 1/3 innings of relief against Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 25) in his next outing ... Earned his first collegiate win against George Mason (Mar. 3) with five innings of one-run relief ... Limited Mount St. Mary's to just one run on seven hits in his first conference start and earned NEC Rookie of the Week honors ... Produced quality starts in seven of his eight league starts, working at least six innings in all but one ... Tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings against LIU Brooklyn (Apr. 1) but suffered a no decision ... Allowed just one run on five hits over five innings against Quinnipiac (Apr. 21) ... Before Bryant: A three-time State Champion at Westhill High School in Syracuse, N.Y. ... Helped baseball team win back-to-back state titles in 2009 and 2010 and led basketball team to a state championship in 2010 ... In baseball as a junior, named all-league, Second Team All-Central New York and All-State ... Recognized as a Preseason Louisville Slugger All-American as a senior and went on to earn all-league honors, All-CNY Pitcher of the Year honors and First Team All-State honors ... Was an all-league selection in basketball as a senior and named the Section III MVP at the sectional tournament ... Member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society ... Graduated with high honors.
