UPDATE: Bryant and UML meet Tuesday in Northborough, Mass.

GAME NOTES

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant University baseball team will have to travel a bit for its scheduled home as it host UMass Lowell at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass., on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.

Looking to snap a four-game losing skid, the Bulldogs (2-11) will play the River Hawks (3-9) on Field 2 at the three-field complex in Northborough. The all-turf complex has become a haven for New England teams, hosting 16 games alone this week. This past weekend, Boston College hosted an ACC series against NC State at the NE Baseball Complex.

Sophomore Matt Albanese (East Haddam, Conn.) has been Bryant's top offensive threat for majority of the season and enters Tuesday's contest working on a career-high 11-game on-base streak. He is batting a team-best .345 and has also registered team-highs in doubles (5), RBI (11) and runs scored (15). 

Reinforcements appear to be on the way as the several Bulldogs got hot during annual spring break trip. Juniors Robby Rinn (Warwick, R.I.) and AJ Zarozny (Shrewsbury, Mass.) are a pair that have started to find their groove. Rinn hit .367 and drove in nine runs during the seven-game spring break trip. He capped the trip by tying a career-high with four hits at Coastal Carolina. Zarozny hit .300 and drove in seven over the stretch and brings a seven-game hitting streak into Tuesday's game with UML.

Junior Kyle Wilcox (Sandy Hook, Conn.) will make his fifth start of the year for the Black and Gold on Tuesday. He has posted a 2.95 ERA, 15 walks and 15 strikeouts over 18.1 innings. He put together his best start of the season at Coastal Carolina, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits with five strikeouts and just one walk.

All-New England shortstop Danny Mendick has been the catalyst for the River Hawks this season. He is batting a team-high .395 with 10 RBI and has yet to commit an error defensively. Four others are hitting over .300, with Matthew Sanchez posting four doubles, a team-high 10 runs scored and five stolen bases. As a team, the River Hawks have stolen 28 bases in 12 games.

Freshman righty Andrew Ryan will get the ball for UML on Tuesday. He has no record in three appearances so far this season. He has struck out six, walked five and allowed an .184 opponent batting average over 11 innings.
