Theetge garners final NEC Rookie of the Week honor

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball freshman Steve Theetge (Cicero, N.Y.) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week following his performance last Thursday against Mount St. Mary's.

The weekly honor is the second of the season for Theetge and comes on the heels of his first-career complete-game shutout. He also earned the honor on Apr. 25 after 6 2/3 innings against Stony Brook.

Theetge allowed just three hits, walked two and struck out five over seven innings against Mount St. Mary's. He improved to a perfect 8-0 with the win and lowered his ERA to 2.83 on the season. Theetge allowed two infield singles and has now thrown complete games in each of his last two starts.
