Titus named NEC Rookie of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball freshman Jimmy Titus (Stafford, Conn.) has been named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Titus becomes the third different Bulldog in as many weeks to earn rookie of the week honors. He went 5-for-11 with two home runs, five RBI, two runs scored and a .538 OBP in three games at Big South-member Liberty.

The rookie shortstop was at his best on Sunday, hitting two home runs and driving in five to help the Black and Gold snap a seven-game losing streak. Titus drilled a mammoth two-run home run into a stiff wind that was blowing in from left to make it 4-1 in the third. He added an RBI single in the fifth before hitting another no-doubter to dead center to make it 8-3. Titus is the third different Bryant player to post a multi-homer game this season.
