Ward first Bryant player to earn Perfect Game/Rawlings Freshman All-America honors

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball redshirt freshman Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) has been selected as a first team honorees to the Perfect Game/Rawlings College Freshman All-American team, announced by Perfect Game on Thursday morning.

Ward has now been recognized as a Freshman All-American by three separate organizations and as an All-American by two others, becoming the most decorated baseball player in a single season in DI program history.

Highlighted by a program-record 30-game hitting streak, Ward enjoyed a prolific spring for the Bulldogs. He broke the program record for hits in a single season with 101 and became the first player in DI program history to hit over .400 in a single season. He posted 22 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, a program-record 150 total bases and struck out just 10 times on the year. He also drove in 52 runs and scored 51 times, becoming just the third player in DI program history to drive in 50+ runs and score 50+ runs in the same season. Currently, he ranks first nationally in hits per game, third in hits and fourth in batting average.

Ward is the first player in program history to earn Freshman All-American honors from Perfect Game/Rawlings.
