SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball redshirt freshman Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) added another honor on Wednesday as Baseball America tabbed him a First Team Freshman All-American.

Following the greatest offensive season in program history, Ward has now been recognized on 18 different occasions this offseason.

Ward was the sparkplug for Bryant's lineup all spring, hitting .409 with 101 hits, 22 doubles, five triples, eight home runs, 52 RBI and 51 runs scored. He finished the season ranked first nationally in hits per game (1.80), fourth in batting average, fifth in total hits and fifth in toughest to strikeout. Ward became the first player in program history to record 100+ hits in a single season and also broke the NEC single-season record in the process.

In addition to his honor from Baseball America, Ward was also recognized as the Co-National Freshman Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA District I Player of the Year.
