Titus named a National Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball redshirt sophomore Jimmy Titus (Stafford, Conn.) was named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Titus went 11-for-20 (.550) with three doubles, three home runs, 14 RBI and nine runs scored in four games last week. He didn't strikeout in 21 plate appearances and posted a .571 OBP. He was one of eight players recognized this week, joining Noah Song (Navy), Tristan Peterson (New Mexico State), Aaron Simpson (Ball St.), Asa Lacy (Texas A&M), Ubaldo Lopez (Dartmouth), Beau Keathley (Oakland) and Seth Shuman (Georgia Southern).

In Bryant's midweek win over Hartford, Titus put together the greatest single-game performance in program history, going 5-for-5 with two home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored. He tied single-game program records for hits, RBI and runs scored, becoming the first player in DI program history to score five times in a game. He then went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI in game one of a three-game series with Central Connecticut on Saturday. In Sunday's series finale, he had two doubles, a home run, four RBI and four runs scored to help the Black and Gold win the series.

Titus now leads the Bulldogs with five home runs and 26 RBI through the first 21 games of the season. He drove in seven runs through the first 14 games of the season but has driven in 19 runs over the last seven.
