Ward named National Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball redshirt sophomore Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.) has been named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week presented by Diamond Sports on Monday.

Ward becomes the second Bulldog this year to earn recognition, joining classmate Jimmy Titus (Stafford, Conn.).

In five games last week, Ward hit .545 (12-for-22) with four doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, seven runs scored and a .583 OBP. He posted multiple hits in all five games, including a four-hit performance at Brown. Ward homered and drove in three runs in each of the first two games vs. Hartford over the weekend. His three-run home run on Friday capped an eight-run inning and proved to be the difference in an 8-5 victory. Ward has now hit safely in each of his last seven games and currently ranks 20th nationally with 1.63 hits per game.
