Theetge signs with Minnesota Twins

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Bryant University baseball alumnus Steve Theetge (Syracuse, N.Y.) has signed a minor-league contract with the Minnesota Twins, the organization announced this week.

Theetge becomes the fourth Bulldog this year to sign a professional contract, joining Ryan Ward (Millbury, Mass.), Chris Wright (Cumberland, R.I.) and Jimmy Titus (Stafford, Conn.). Bryant has now had 21 players either drafted or signed to professional contracts in the last nine seasons.

The left-hander put together one of the greatest pitching resumes in program history this spring and in his career, becoming the program's all-time leader in wins (32) and innings pitched (344 1/3). This spring, he went 9-2 with a 1.75 ERA, the lowest of a starting pitcher in Division I program history, and 96 strikeouts in a program-record 102 2/3 innings.

Theetge was named the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year for the second time in his career, a league first, a First Team All-NEC, All-New England and All-Northeast selection and a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Third Team All-American in addition to earning the second ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove in program history. A four-time All-NEC selection, he finishes his Bryant career with a 32-14 record, 270 strikeouts and a remarkable 20 pickoffs.

Theetge will report to the Twins' Gulf Coast League affiliate in Fort Myers.
