Baseball picked second in NEC preseason poll

SOMERSET, N.J. – The Bryant University baseball was selected to finish second in the Northeast Conference in a poll of the league's 10 head coaches, as announced Tuesday by the NEC office.

Bryant, the eight-time defending NEC Regular-Season champions, received two first-place votes to come in second behind defending tournament champion Central Connecticut. The Blue Devils received six first-place votes. Wagner, Sacred Heart, LIU, Merrimack, Mount St. Mary's and Fairleigh Dickinson were tabbed 3-8.

The Black and Gold return a pair of All-NEC selections from a team that won 40 games for the fourth time in seven seasons. Bryant won its eighth-straight regular-season title with a 19-5 record last spring and is 217-66 (.767) against league opponents since the start of the 2010 season. The Bulldogs' string of regular-season crowns is the longest in the country.

Bryant opens the 2020 season on Friday, Feb. 14 against Dayton in Wilmington, North Carolina.
