Mattison named CBN National Player of the Week

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University baseball senior Tyler Mattison was named a Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week on Monday.

Mattison picks up the honor after striking out a program record 15 batters on Saturday afternoon. He struck out at least one batter in each of the eight innings he pitched and struck out the side three times. Mattison surrendered just four hits and didn't walk a batter in 8.0 scoreless frames.

Mattison becomes the first Bulldog since James Ciliento in 2019 to earn Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Player of the Week honors. On the season, Mattison is 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 41.1 innings. He has walked three and struck out 48.
